Abstract

A field-assisted ion exchange configuration has been recently developed for doping silicate glasses with different transition elements, namely, cobalt, gold, copper and silver. Metallic films deposited onto glass slides by the rf-sputtering technique were used as the metal ions source. In the presented experiments, optical propagation properties were investigated for various systems.
