KUMA KM-4 diffractometer equipped with a CCD detector has been applied for high-pressure structural studies in our laboratory. We have used a Merrill-Bassett diamond-anvil cell (DAC) with beryllium discs and window opening of 45o from the axis of the cell. Test experiments have been carried out an fluorite and 6-hydroxy-4,4,5,6,7-pentamethyl-3,4-dihydrocumarin crystal samples. We were particularly concerned with the high background of radiation scattered on the elements of the DAC, and restrictions imposed by steel frame on the access to the reciprocal lattice. Our work was focused on optimising the experimental conditions with the aim of obtaining possibly precise structural data.
