Abstract
Analysis of issues related to the crack process requires a quantitative description of a problem which frequently, due to its complexity, is difficult or impossible to solve. In a number of cases, the deficiencies of a quantitative description made using classical methods are compensated for by unconventional mathematical tools.

In this study, computer simulation and a three-dimensional minimum spanning tree (3D MST) have been used for reconstructing the crack pathway on a stereometric measuring file acquired as a result of profilographometric analyses of the surfaces of fractures of WC-Co sintered carbides.
