Abstract

In this paper, we proposed dc dual reactor type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) using switching operation of YBa2Cu3OX-7(YBCO) thin film. The dc dual reactor type SFCL consisted of a bridge diode, inductively coupled two coils and YBCO thin films. Two coils were wound in parallel with each other, which was connected in series with YBCO thin film. Dc reactor type SFCL using the switching operation of YBCO thin film, which was suggested by us previously, does not require the interrupter and its controller for the detection of the fault current unlike the conventional reactor type SFCL. Dc dual reactor type SFCL, which was developed to increase the short-circuit capacity of dc reactor type SFCL using the switching operation of YBCO thin film, have different fault current limiting characteristics from dc reactor type SFCL using the switching operation of YBCO thin film. Through the experiments, the fault current limiting characteristics of the dc dual reactor type SFCL were investigated and compared with the fault current limiting ones of the single dc reactor type SFCL.
