Abstract

In this talk I will review some of the recent advances in studying magnetization dynamics with high spatial resolution using methods based on XMCD. Using X-PEEM it is possible to gain information on the dynamic response of magnetic micro- and nanostructures with a spatial reolution of about 50 nm. Some experiments using pulsed magnetic field excitation will be reviewed.
Using a scanning transmission X-ray microscope it is possible to employ lock-in techniques which drastically increase the signal to noise ratio while maintaining the high spatial resolution.

Data will be presented that elucidate the complex magnetic mode structure of simple ferromagnetic objects in a frequency range from some hundred MHz up to a few GHz.
