The lecture will give an overview of the future needs for research and developments on:
- Structural Nanomaterials: metallics, ceramics, polymers, coatings and composites;
- Functional Nanomaterials: semiconductors, photonics, superconductors, magnetics, carbontubes, dielectrics.
The potential innovations for nanomaterials in advanced technologies i.e. informatics, biology- and medicine, foodstuffs and cosmetics, transport, energy, chemical engineering, environment …will be summarized.To keep Europe competitive worldwide, the need for European research and technology centres of excellence becomes a necessity: models for the innovative institutions will be presented. |
